Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List (could be blogging related, book related etc. -- meeting authors, reading x many books per year, finishing a daunting book, etc.)

1. Attend the ALA (American Library Association) conference
2. Meet Ann M. Martin
3. Get autographs from most of my favorite authors (or all, I could settle for all)
4. Read one picture book every day for a year (possibly a challenge in 2015)
5. Visit the Secret Annex (as reading The Diary of a Young Girl is what inspired this, I count it as book related)
6. Visit as many libraries around the country (and world) as possible. And if possible, get a library card there.
7. Visit more independent bookstores (there is a very limited selection of such stores in my area)
8. Take part in more book sharing opportunities: Little Free Libraries, Rock the Drop, BookCrossing, etc.
9. Get published!
10. Continue to read like a crazy person

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

1. I have read more new books than ever (I reread books less now that I try to review what I read)
2.  I have found more outlets for free books (and all of them legal! Why do people try to do it illegally, that seems like more work?)
3. I now own a kindle (I got tired of people sending me books and then having to read them on my laptop. Why didn't I get a kindle sooner?!)
4. I feel more knowledgeable about the books in my library since I have tried to branch out with the types of books I read- makes my job so much easier!
5. I get to talk to more people about books which is always fun
6. I have since discovered the joy of having reading challenges other than just reading a certain number in a year (maybe I'm crazy, but these are fun)
7. When I get to meet an author, I get to feel less like a crazy fan girl and more like I'm just there to share the experience with my blog readers (oh who am I kidding. I'm a crazy fan girl).

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Characters I'd NEVER Want To Trade Places With

1. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)- I am way too much of a wuss.
2. Anyone in The Walking Dead- Zombies...no.
3. Lucious Malfoy (Harry Potter)- I don't ever want to be that pathetic.
4. Rosemary (The Giver)- So sad!
5. Stanley Yelnats (Holes)- I couldn't dig five feet holes to save my life.
6. Bella Swan (Twilight)- even at my most pathetic, I will never be that bad.
7. Stephanie Plum (series by Janet Evanovich)- I could not handle my car getting blown up that many times.
8. Sam Madison (All-American Girl)- like her, I would not want to deal with the press. Same goes for Mia, Jess, and Emerson.
9. Mallory Pike (The Baby-Sitter's Club)- Poor Mal! Everyone hates on her! 
10. Janie Johnson/Jennie Spring (The Face on the Milk Carton)- too much stress, drama and confusion. Plus she got too many crummy sequels.

Top Ten Most Frustrating Characters Ever

1. Harry Potter- I would get so mad at Harry, especially in the fifth book.  Dang you hormones!
2. Kristina Snow- It's awful to see her spiral out of control.  Everytime I reread Crank I can't help but hope the story will change.
3. Rebecca Bloomwood- Self-restraint.  Use it, Becky!
4. Mia Thermopolis- I love Mia, but sometimes she was a little too self-absorbed.
5. Samantha Madison- Same as Mia.
6. Carmen Lowell- things change and the world doesn't revolve around
7. Sara Fitzgerald- a perfect example of " the road to hell is paved with good intentions."  She tries to do what is best for her daughter, but hurts the other in the process.

Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

1. Re-read The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin
2. Read 250 books to out-do my books in 2012
3. Listen to 6 Audio books
4. Mount TBR- I will tackle 24 on my TBR list (and I'm only counting those added in 2012, otherwise it feels like cheating would be simple)
5. Read (and review) 6 Novels in Verse
6. Read 50 ebooks (I'm not placing any restrictions, if it's on my Kindle, I'm counting it)
7. Try to complete a couple series I have started and not finished (including- Tillerman Cycle, Immortal Beloved, and Winnie Years)
8. Just have fun reading (okay, so I didn't get to ten.  I have so many reading accomplishments I hope to achieve, I don't think I'm going to put anymore on my plate)

Top Ten Tuesday Freebie: Movie Adaptations

As Good as the Book- or Better!
1. Holes (just as good as the book in my opinion)
2. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (I like the book alright, but the movie is better)
3. The Devil Wears Prada (was really disappointed in the book)
4. Julie and Julia (seeing food is so much better than reading about it)
5 .A Walk to Remember (I felt that the book was boooring- I am not a Nicholas Sparks fan)
6. Where the Heart is (but why did they change the sevens to fives?)
7. The Polar Express (the only picture book adaptation that I actually like.  Even though there was a lot added, it felt like it stayed true to the tone of the book)
8. Speak (Kirsten Stewart, in a role where she isn't supposed speak or show emotion- perfect!!)
 
Adaptations I Dislike9. My Sister's Keeper (that was one of the best endings I have ever read and they changed it!?)
10. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp version- kinda creepy and just didn't feel as delightful as the book did)

5. Hardbound copies of Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley (or at least the rest of the series)
6. Hardbound copies of Sweep by Cate Tiernan (with multiple copies per book- they are kinda small and I read really fast)
7. The Meg Cabot books I don't own
8. Tilt, Collateral, and Triangles by Ellen Hopkins (and hardbacks of the ones I only have in paperback)
9. Anything (or everything) by Mo WIllems
10. Books in general.  That's usually what I ask for
