And so it Begins...

Alright, here we go!  I am on a mission to re-read the entirety of The Baby-Sitters Club series.  My personal goal is to finish (and by finish I mean everything from Kristy's Great Idea to Graduation Day and everything in between with the exception of the Little Sister books and those spin-offs and the California Diaries) by the end of June.  I am still giving myself the entire year to complete my goal if needed though.  A few years ago, I decided I wanted to re-read the whole series again.  I didn't have any time limit set for myself and only made it to #47, Mallory on Strike.  I am really hopeful that I will complete the task this time around.  I have also signed up to do some BSC Bloggin' over on Sarah Miller's blog.  I won't be blogging about all of the books I read on my blog, but will have some posts up on her site.  Check them out.  If you are interested in joining my craziness, I would love to have you!  You can sign up (and keep up with my progress) here.

Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

Perfect Chemistry series by Simone Elkeles- mostly since I just read Chain Reaction and want to read the series as a whole

The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin- I love these book so much. I'm glad that they are being re-released and every time I see one of the covers, I want to curl up with a stack of my favorites from this great series.

TTYL by Lauren Myracle- Haven't read this book since high school...far too long!

The Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner- The Void Zone does a weekly “did it hold up” segment and that has made me think about books I loved when I was young, but haven't read since then. I'd like to find out if these books held up.

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen- Fairly certain that the last time I read this book was when I was in middle school...

Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts- Because I can never read this book to many times (same goes for the movie starring Natalie Portman).

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson- I feel that it will be even better the second time through

Airhead series by Meg Cabot- I read Runaway immediately when it was released, but this is yet another series I have not read as a whole.

Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffen- I still haven't seen the movie yet (yay John Krasinski!) and want to watch it before I read the book again.

I'ma Believer: My Life of Monkees, Music, and Madness by Micky Dolenz- What can I say, I love The Monkees!

“Ten Rules for Living with My Sister” by Ann M. Martin

Picture it: I’m walking into the post office, dreading checking the box because I figure there will be nothing more than junk and bills. So imagine my surprise when I find no bills and an ARC of Ann M. Martin’s Ten Rules for Living with My Sister. Then imagine the looks of random strangers as a half run, half dance back out to my truck (what can I say, I love Martin’s books more than just about anything).

Fans of Martin’s Baby-Sitter Little Sister series will likely enjoy this book. It follows Pearl, a fourth-grade girl growing up in Manhattan. Pearl’s only real friends are her cat Bitey and her first grade neighbor. She enjoys making crafts and (though not always intentionally) annoying her older sister Lexie. Pearl keeps an ongoing list comparing herself to her sister, for instance, Lexie has a boyfriend and she doesn’t. The girls must learn to get along when their grandfather moves from his home in New Jersey to their New York apartment- meaning the sisters now have to share bedrooms! This book is just what I expected; lighthearted, but with many lessons for young readers. I would recommend it for girls around 1-4 grades and if readers like this book, it is likely they will enjoy Martin’s The Doll People series, Main Street series, Belle Teal, and A Corner of the Universe. In addition, readers who just can’t get enough of Ann M. Martin’s books should check out The Baby-Sitters Club series (check out used bookstores for books that haven’t been reprinted yet).
