Proof that I will read just about anything. Prior to meeting my boyfriend, I had not even hear of Kevin Smith. Now, I have seen almost all of his movies. And surprisingly have enjoyed everything that I have viewed. Because of this, I was very interested when I came across a copy of Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good. Thanks to Netflix I have seen a couple of his recorded Q&As so I didn't get a whole lot of new information out of this book. A good chunk of the stories were ones that I had already heard, but that was okay. I still enjoyed this read.
One would not expect that I would be interested in anything created by Smith. If you take a look at my DVD collection, you will quickly notice that the majority of what I own is aimed at kids. I own a lot of Disney movies. So even I was surprised the first time I watched Clerks and liked it quite a bit. I have since made it a personal goal to watch all of Smith's movies (I keep waiting to be in the right mood to give Red State a try).
I realize that this is certainly not a book for everyone. The events and descriptions in this book are in no way censored. It's likely that the review of a memoir isn't likely to persuade readers to pick up or avoid a certain title. I don't think I have ever picked up a memoir unless I have been particularly interested in either the person or the subject matter. But you never know. If you are a fan of Smith's movies, comics, or podcast, then give this book a shot!
Happy Reading!

I can't believe that you had never heard of Kevin Smith before this...I feel that I severely neglected your pop culture education.
